My boat, horizon 240, is always in the water, although I can pull it out. Is there an easy to clean the exterior boat while in the water. Are there biodegradable cleaners that I can use to "wash" the boat, while not contaminating the bay? Hosing with water does not do the trick.

Mequiars boat was and most of their products are all biodegradable. Also, online at Boating World they have these suction handles that you can use to hold onto on the outside of the boat for leverage.

I have only used Mequiars on mine, but I bet others are also. But I really do like the the look of the boat after using Mequiars. Each to their own though. Hope this helps some.

If you can get to the area by hand Magic Erasers made by Mr. Clean work great.

This is what I use (from west marine). It works GREAT. It's environmentally safe as well.

Keep an eye out for their specials. I was able to get buy one get one free.

Whatever you end up using, make sure it's not harsh and is made for boats or it will strip off your wax.

I use a home brew of 50/50 distilled white vinegar and water with a shot if liquid hand soap (won"t pull the wax and helps with the vinegar smell) Mix it in a spray bottle spray on in a fine mist wipe off with a soft towel before it dries. It removes hard water and transom scum like a champ! Do a 2-4 foot section at a time. I do mine every time I come out of the water at the ramp. It takes about 15 min and is ready to go next time out. It's nearly all natural and almost none would get in the water anyway. A big spray bottle will clean my 18 footer 3-5 times. I hope this is helpful.
