another question, bare with me as I'm a new boater - just bought a 180LE. Was told that pulling a tube behind a boat is very hard on the boat & I shouldn't do it, is this correct? Thanks, Greg |

Who told you this? Make a note of it and do not seek advice from them in the future. As long as you have a ski tow eye or a harness you will be just fine. |

There is absolutely nothing wrong with pulling a tuber, skier etc...behind that boat. Sure, you make the engine work slightly harder, burn more fuel, but its not anything the boat was not designed to do. |

What size is your engine? If you have the 3.0 135 hp 4 cylinder, you might warrant their advice depending on how many people are on the boat while tubing. |

While I wouldn't recommend doing this with the 4 cylinder:  Advising you not to tube is severely limiting your boating experience...tube away

If you have a 3 litre / 4 banger and you can tow it, go for it. I had one of these engines a few boats back and let me say, mine was bullet proof. |

If I couldn't get towed on my boat I wouldn't want to have it. Something about not being in control of what that tube is going to do next just makes me love it that much more. My wife finds it hilarious that I make her tow me on my tube whenever we go out and she says I board the boat with a smile that I can't erase the entire day. Joe In Miami

One of the most fun things you can do with the boat. No issue pulling it, just follow some basic safety rules, like always shutting off the engine when people are in the water right behind the boat, check for obstructions and water depth, etc. Always have a spotter to keep an eye on your riders. They will fall off when you least expect it  If you have trouble pulling, check your prop pitch, if you are not hitting your max rpm with a light load, you should figure how much you need to go down in pitch to hit that rpm #. For example, my 88 4.3 4bbl is supposed to hit 4400-4800 rpms wide open. It came with a 14.5x19 prop and only hit 4200 rpms. I switched to a 15x17 and got 4600-4700, just right. |

Yep +1 to everyone who says its okay, something that I have learned is if your rider is starting to yawn, then it is time to up the intensity of the ride. Personally if the rider's face is going a little "pink" from the "G" forces, acheived by various configurations of boat manoeuvers, then you have it about right. Enjoy the boat Hope this helps |

Tubes are fun but they can be dangerous also. A 17 year old boater was killed today in Miami after his friends were pulling him on a tube in a canal and the tube crashed into the bank killing him a day before he was supposed to start school.
