Well apart from the paperwork it looks like the boat is sold  It sold to the second person to view it for the price I wanted. It has been a good boat and is in fine shape. We have had some good times on it but it is time to move on to the next chapter in life. I look forward to still being able to contribute to the forum at least for a while yet. OK I need a new hobby hopefully one not quite as expensive, any ideas?

Congrats on the boat sale. Whenever either of our boats sold, I was very happy. It's just a boat after all. No real personal attachment to them.
A few cars I had did bring a tear to my eye when they were sold. I will miss my RX300, as that is being traded in tonight, but won't tear up over it.

For a hobby, how about cooking ? Or axe sharpening ?

Now that shows how different people are! I WILL shed a tear when I hand over the keys to the boat, I have spent years getting it to how I wanted it.

You will notice from my signature I also have an RX300 which is without doubt the finest car I have ever owned. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it, I've not even changed a bulb in it since it was new (2004) but for the life of me I can't bond with it, I can't even bring myself to clean it. Before the Lexus I have had a few Jags, nothing but trouble but loved every one.
There's nothing stranger than folk!!!

Oh, I did love both of our previous boats, lots of great memories. But those memories will remain even after the boat is gone. The boat was just a medium that help create those good memories and good times.

As far as the RX300, I agree, it's the best vehicle I have ever owned too, but the wife is keeping her RX300, so if I feel the need to drive one, her's is in the garage.

Maybe you could open up a shop and repair well loved Jag's ?

How about a smaller boat?
Something smaller, simpler, less fuel cost, less maintenance, etc....

I remember prior to my purchasing an expensive boat, I would do yard work as well as landscaping and remodeling projects to my home. I don't know if this is considered a hobby in your eyes but it was in mine because I did get enjoyment out of it. Sometimes I wish to be able to go back to that more economic lifestyle but our 4 kids get a lot of pleasure out of boating (and the yacht club we belong to) and I could not imagine doing so. However, our boating season is from mid-March to late October here in Georgia (at least for us, that is) and if it was less, then I would probably give it up due to the expense. Good job on selling the boat so quickly.

I know how you feel, as I just sold my boat and although the boat is just a medium to having fun I still cant help
but to miss her. I guess its something that it symbolizes more than what it is. My wife called it my "Christine" if
you ever saw that movie?
Maybe you could try flying lessons, much more expensive and just as aloring.

New hobby in the UK? Field archery; We're taking it up again since our daughter no longer needs us to take her to horse riding each Sunday morning (she's 17+ since a few years and driving herself now !) .Exercise in woods/ fields and a sense of achievement/ improvement.

Graham

PS, for our US friends; we are not allowed to use bows and arrows in the UK for hunting/ killing animals. Field archery is about shooting at targets without defined distances. The English are apparently still allowed to use bows and arrows for killing Welshmen ( = Me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!) within the Chester City walls after darkness falls; one of those 800 year by- laws that was never repealed ! "Beyond the Blue", please don't come looking for me in Chester!!!

Motorcycles? That is my other hobby. When you are in the wind, be it boats or bikes at that moment, all you're sense's are heightened.

Also, bikes are cheaper. Keep us posted, Dennis

I have an H180, I imported a Suzuki RGV 250 2-stroke race bike from Japan and street legal'd it, and I own a 600whp turbo Lexus currently. I've had many other toys in the past including a super hot and rich trophy (ex)wife, other race bikes, other fast cars, houses, guns, photography equipment, traveled.....

The boat is the best thing I've ever had in my life. You messed up.

The reality is fairly simple. Boats are a tremendous time suck/money pit. If an owner doesnt feel like they are "getting their moneys worth", it might be time to sell. Having family obligations, career obligations etc can make boat ownership difficult. Look at anything in life you have to pay for. If you are paying, but are not getting any use out of something, you want to stop paying and make it go away.

I seem to recall you saying not too long ago that the weather in your part of the world last year was so crappy that you hardly got out on the boat to enjoy it and you had considered selling it at that time.

Be sure to stick around and stay in touch....and I have a feeling you might be back after a little break.

If I didn't have a boat, I'd have a hot rod, and speeding tickets, etc, so the boat is probably cheaper, LOL...
Seriously, back in the 70s I had a fiberglass dune buggy powered by a 1200 cc 40 hp VW engine, had a lot of fun with that and if I got rid of the boat, I'd be looking to build one of those, except with a 2000 cc VW and a full roll cage....

Some short memories around here, even the (new) mod's. This is from 4-1/2 weeks ago. I believe it explains why he sold the 238.

Hi
Welcome to the forum. It appears it is my boat you are talking about. Ihave sent you an e-mail.

Buying a bigger one, or giving up due to the lousy Summers here over the last few years ?? (that crossed my mind several times !)

Graham

Neither. I turn 60 on Saturday and had a heart attack a few weeks ago. My wife says it's time I started acting my age and not my shoe size (she's wrong of course). I will miss the boat that's for sure.

For the record... Because of the bad weather last year I put a for sale sign on the boat. I had a couple of phone enquiries but nothing serious. Because of recent ill health I decided to advertise it more aggresively and put it in the hands of our biggest agent here in the UK. Originally it was my intention to buy another boat in Spain but that has been put on hold.

I have just found out that a friend of mine has bought a boat and took it to Benidorm where he has an apartment..... guess whose just become my best friend

You lot are very observant (I won't try and commit a murder on this forum).
