Now maybe everyone knows this, but it may be helpful to others. This boat is brand new, from the dealer w/11hrs on it. I have not talked to the dealer on this yet!! Before the big storm we just had, I had folded up the top up. After all the wind & rain we had I found water in the mid-berth cabin. After 5 months of use, I have not seen this before. The good thing, it was not to bad. What I found that it was coming from were the am/fm radio is mounted. FW drilled a 1/2" in the "roof" of it, to run the wire to the remote at the helm. Last spring I installed a Sony head w/2 remotes, so 3 wires are now in this hole vs. one. Which helped keep the water back. The bigger problem is, they never sealed were the steps to the bow, meet the helm. So the water poured down the steps and ran into the gaps, to the helm, right over the hole to the radio. I am willing to bet, this has been happening right along. Every time a washed the boat and I always have the top up so rain was not a problem, but it was not enough for the wate to drop out. |

Looks like good old FourWinns quality control, I haven't been that impressed with the fit and finish once I really got into my boat. They are a step above a bayliner but not a really big step. |

I have had 2 Bayliners. A very solid boat, but yes, I would say 2 steps below my FW. I also have had 2 Crownlines, the "fit" was better, but the finish was less. They all have there good & bad points. My big thing here, was to warn everyone. If it was not for the large amount of water from the storm, I bet mold, dampness and rot would have started. |
