Okay, I have been going to marina for years, every weekend, and every Monday, I am completely covered in bites!!! I have tried all products on skin, nothing works. Even tried the laundry dryer sheets- Nothing works for us!! Some people, never get bit, some the sprays work! I am not planning on eating strait garlic, I have a social life to worry about, SO! Does anyone have some witches brew or concoction that kills these bastards??? We even have a breeze sometimes, and still, I get them all over!
please help, I now get bite on top of bites!
thanks!!!

Amazingly, it works. Don't know how. Just does. Can buy them anywhere. The Sam's or BJ's Costco type stores have the best price.

Good one Cap n.

I use Deep Woods Off wipes. Nothing else works for me. They have a pleasant smell and not stickey or greasy. I cant find them here in Canada anymore and I"m so pleased with them, I bought 2 seasons worth last weekend in Rochester.

For black flies, I use nothing. They swarm me but wont bite me,,,go figure!

John

Short of Cap'ns fumigation method, I vote for the off candle things that glspro has shown. We have had really good luck with them.

We use this....AND IT WORKS AMAZINGLY!!!

http://mosquitocentral.com/tcell.htm (ThermaCELL Repellent Appliance) (butane powered)

We spend 3-4 nights on the boat on the Mississippi, and usually beach along a sandbar, when we go out to do the camp fire, make smores, and generally relax, I turn this on in the enclosed aft seating area with the enclosure up, after 30 minutes, there are no bugs AT ALL. It also works outside in a smaller radius area, put it on our table between the chairs and keeps all the biting bugs away.

I am totally sold on these! Just my .02
Bob

Thermacell definitely works as long as you have that Butane burning. I was hunting near lake okeechobee last year and was laughing at how the Mosquitos weren't bothering me in my stand. Unfortunately my butane ran out and soon enough it was the Mosquitos that were laughing at me! Buy two of the packages and you will remember this post if you run out of gas and have extra.

off deep woods works great in FL.

When I lived in Maine it worked well there too. Comes in a nice plastic pump bottle in some stores so you don't have a rusty old can bashing around.

The problem with Off is it contains DEET. Some folks can't tolerate it on their skins (me, for one). The cutter brand stuff uses Picairdin which works about as well but without the irritation caused by DEET.

The thermocell devices look interesting. Has anyone used one in the morning to disperse the mess of mosquitos that alight on the gelcoat overnight? I either have to deal with the hassle of putting up all the canvas at night or face down a swarm of them sitting all over the place. I'd wonder if turning on one of those gadgets would be enough to get them to depart.

It worked well when I was hunting but take into account I have my hunting clothes sprayed down with spray also. The non-odor kind. I love the tiki torches in my backyard but I am not on the water. Good luck they are a menace that many of us hate greatly! 8)
