hey everyone, my name is shawn. i am new to the whole boating scene, me and my wife recently got married and we decided to buy a boat as a wedding gift to each other. we bought a 1994 four winns 190 horizon with a 5.ol. are there any member on here from nj? i look forward to talking to everyone and i am sure i will have alot of questions, some may be stupid so be patient with me (this is a whole new world for me). thanks in advance 8)

Welcome!!

The best way to learn, join a yacht club, USCG courses. A VHF, GPS, and fishfinders are a must. A lest for me boating in the ocean. Thats a good first boat and in a few years, you are going to want to move up.

Since you're new and it may not be obvious to you add the following to the list above: at least 2 dock lines, and anchor with enough rope for the deepest water you boat in, one life jacket for each person aboard the boat, a "leatherman" or multitool. I learned a lot about how to launch and retrieve the boat by watching other boaters at the local boat ramp. This can also be a great source of entertainment while you are waiting for your repair parts to arrive. Best of luck with the new boat and welcome to the forum.
