Thanks.

I think one of you Michigan guys should make a trip to the lake and take a picture or two of the 20' "Wild Waves". The winds do seem to pick up when we approach fall.

I only have 12 more days before our boat is lifted out for the season. It's looking like this weekend between my son's hockey evaluation and the weather that I may not get out for a boat ride. :(

Mike.

I'll be over on the West Michigan coast this weekend starting to get the boat ready for haul out and closing up the wife's family's cottage. Guess I better check on the boat first thing Friday night.

We've owned the boat for three years now and there's been at least one of these big storms late in the year each of those years.

They're calling for the same winds here and cold to boot. I wont be leaving the slip or maybe the boat for that matter.

I wondered where all that cold air was coming from because it is going to get down to 39 this Saturday night. Better start stocking up on the firewood because I think we are in for a cold one this winter.

I hope it warms up down there in the next two weeks when we are on a week's vacation in Georgia.

Most of those real big waves are farther out in the lake, hard to get out that far for pictures, but here is a picture
from 2 years ago in October when we had 12 footers. It will give you some idea what it will be like.

Yep, she is going to be windy over the next two days. Here is the marine forecast for the Southern part of Lake Huron. Maximum wave height of 25'. Who said lakes can't get rough? :)

Tonight
North gales to 35 knots...veering to northeast late. Gusts to 45 knot gales. Numerous showers. Waves 14 to 18 feet...subsiding to 12 to 16 feet late. Maximum wave height around 25 feet.

Mike.

Thank goodness we are river boaters. The colors are changing and Sunday is forecast for 60's and sunny. Need to get in few more weekends in before it goes to storage.

Have experienced the Lake's big waves. No fun!!

From this morning's reports.

Quote:
HOLLAND -- Today's wild wave show on Lake Michigan kicked up a 21.3 foot wave this morning at the southern buoy, which sits at mid-lake west of Holland, the National Weather Service said. "The highest significant waves will be up to 22 feet. There will be occasional waves up to 33 feet," according to the lake storm forecast from the Chicago National Weather Service office.

My trip up today was windy,,,big time, as forcasted. When I got here, the wind died and the rain started,,,big time, not as forcasted. Been raining like crazy for 3 hours now with no wind.

Cold outside and warm inside with cold drinks, satellite, good food, good wifey and a covered slip. I don't mind these storms
