Have to winterize my 1995 150 evinrude outboard this weekend. I bought a can of omc fogging spray, but it did not have a schrader valve hose extension as i thought it would. This is my first year winterizing this engine, is there a place I can get a schrader valve attached to a hose that I can slip onto the fogging spray can?

Schrader valve????

To fog that puppy, muffs on, remove air intake housing, start engine and run at 1000 RPM. Spray fogging oil into intake untill she dies. Remove muffs, re-install in take housing and you're done.

You don't even have to use fogging oil. I use a half of cup of Marvel Mystery Oil myself.

Great advice, did just what you said, like I have done for the last 15 years with the old boat, no schrader valve, just common sense. She is fogged, lubed, fresh gearcase oil, and buttoned up for a Northeast winter. Sad but relieved to have it checked off the list.

Explain Mystery Oil procedure - i assume you have fuel injection right - Are you dumping that into the fuel tank and running it thru? If so, how does that interact with the Stabill,,,,just asking cuz taking the plugs out to fog each cylinder is not possible for me.

I don't add it to the fuel. Instead, I take about a 1/4" hose, put one end in the oil container, and the other goes into one of the vacuum lines for the fuel press regulator. It starts smoking real good, real quick. As stated, the plugs are just too damn tough to access. I previously used MMO with good experience, but an old hot rodder and boater I know told me to use about 1/2 qt of ATF instead. He said it doesn't break down as much in heat and storage, and leaves less residue behind.

Be sure to unplug your fuel pump and turn it over a few times to ensure the fuel rails are depressurized (can't remember why, but was taught), and the combustion chamber is thoroghly coated with oil. Then plug the pump back in as to not forget it next season.

Thought i was motor savvy, but guess not. I'm not too familiar with fuel injection system...always had a carb on my boat so this is my first rodeo. Only cars i worked on had carbs. I assume there is a vacuum line i can locate - unhook fuel pump? - doesnt it still need fuel to run along with tranny fluid?

Ooops... no, mines carbed... I just pour it slowly down the throat of the carb instead of fogging oil.

This is a good video... says for fuel injection to pour it down the air horn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_P8Qh9Id ... re=related

That's after the fogging is complete and the water drained from the cooling system, you want to turn the engine over a few times to clear out the water pump.... that's when I unplug the fuel pump, bleeding the fuel rails. Theoretically after a few turn-overs this way, there is no fuel in the rails or cylinders.
