Post subject:  fuel injected or not ?

Hey all , Was given a 97 fourwinns Horizon 180 with only 450 hrs on it. Boat is super clean. It has the VP Omc/Cobra 5.7 l GL engine in it. Question is would that engine be a fuel injected or a carb engine? I'm not a gear head so i'm not really sure. How would I be able to tell. Thanks for any info

The GL is a carb engine. All fuel injected engines have an i at the end

Yup,,,a good 350 Chevy V-8 probably fitted with a Rochester Quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor. Treat her right and you two will be together for a long time :)

If you cant tell by looking at the intake, pull the breather and see if you have 2 or 4 barrels in the gun. My old carb 5.7 was a 2bbl - either way you have a good setup for sure....and no, you can't just swap a 2bbl for a 4bbl.

Throw up some picks....actually never have seen a 5.7 n a 180.....not saying they didn't put em in there.

Well it should be able to pull a couple tubers pretty easy. haha I will post a pic once i figure out the codes. Thanks again all.

Holy smokes--that looks nice and that baby should move with that engine. Better get your father-in-law something nice for Christmas! Congrats!

That boat should move!!! I had an injected 5.0 in my Crown 182, It would go 62, but not much of a hole shot..... Nice boat, welcome to the forum!

As you can tell from the above comments, you have quite a boat. Don't even think of selling it before you ask us here first if we might want it. A 180 with a 5.7 is RARE and will be a BLAST to have. Enjoy!

Check out the specs from FW.

I'm surprised top speed is only 51.

Do you know which 5.7 you have?
