I use the 3M stuff, works amazing with a high speed buffer. If the hull is discolored from where the water stained it, I use Mary Kate gel |

I have a black hull, so every season (sometimes twice a season) I sand/buff out any small scratches and put on a solid coat of wax. I've used a LOT of buffing compounds and found Meguiar's 91 ![]() |

The 3M stuff at Wal-fart works pretty good IMO. I did my '92 Maxum before selling, and the BIL uses it on his '92 Crown after sitting with one side facing the sun way too long. 230 Mike... the post is calling you!!!... yea, I'm goin' to hell! |

I'm a newbie here, and I did not think my boat, 1994 Four Winns Sundowner had any oxidation either, but a buddy of mine owns an auto body shop and said I would be amazed how much shine I could get out of the boat if I did a couple of steps as opposed to trying to just wax it. I bought a buffer and used the oxidation remover and was really impressed, just how much better the already good looking finish was. After that it has become an obsession, so I have polished the boat using 3M's Perfect it #2 polish and swirl mark remover, and now I find myself getting anal as I have both overhead flourescent light and side quartz halogen lights, while working on things, so I am going to hit it again with the #2. The rest of my steps are below. If your boat is in good shape, check the link to Meguiars Flagship, may save you all the steps I'm doing. Step 1: Meguiars #49 oxidation remover Step 2: 3M Perfect it #2 polish and swirl mark remover Step 3: 3M Perfect it #3 ultra fine machine polish Step 4: Meguiars flagship permium marine wax. http://www.meguiars.com/en/marine/produ ... -wax-32oz/ |

I have used Meguiar's products on all my boats and RV's over the last 15 years. Good stuff. |

Just finished with the 3M Perfect it ultra fine machine polish. Expensive, ($45 qt )but nice to use and a little goes a long way. Definately recommend it, after using it. It stays wet for a long time making it easy to do large sections at a time, and then leaves almost no residue. Very easy to buff off with micro fiber bonnet. My 1984 235 Sundowner is finish is looking better than my wife's 2009 Escape. I'm going to have to spend time on her vehicle or I will be in trouble !! |
