I've wanted to assemble a video of our 2010 Lake Michigan trip for over a year now, and I finally set some time aside last week to do so. This was my first time making a video and I actually had a lot of fun making it! It's also got me really excited for a 2012 trip! I'm sure I will be watching this a lot to help me make it through this winter. :D

Its a lot of fun boating to different locations as your video shows.

It worked great...the first day  We went in late August/early September and the water conditions were less than ideal for a lot of the trip. We had to adjust our itinerary starting the second day when we missed our stop in Manistee. We also missed out on Beaver Island due to water conditions but got some extra days in Charlevoix which we were thankful for. We lost a decent amount of money due to canceling reservations thru the Michigan DNR system, and we learned that around that time of year reservations really weren't needed even at Mackinaw.

What a nice trip. We have not even had our boat in the water yet as we just got it and my wife would love to do a similar trip. We will be keeping our boat in St. Joe Michigan, and will start off slow with some weekend, trips, so wondered what were some of your favorite stops ??

Check out their blog for the detailed details on the trip. Not a bad fuel burn for the conditions.

Thanks Mark! If you are looking to start off slow you are perfectly positioned between two excellent harbor towns with New Buffalo and South Haven! We travel to New Buffalo a couple times a year, and always have a great time there. My favorite stop on the trip was without a doubt Charlevoix. It has a great downtown and if the big lake is kicking up you can go out on beautiful Lake Charlevoix and play! White Lake probably had the least to do, but was still one of our favorites because it was so peaceful there. I honestly think it's hard to go wrong with any of the Michigan harbor towns. They all have a different and unique character to them.

If your going to travel to any destinations on Lake Michigan I HIGHLY recommend a cruising guide...it was a real life saver on our trip
Take care. Ben

Ben,
I just watched your video. Professional quality work! I loved the music. You sure had great seas on day 3. Kudos on going to Gray's Reef in 4' to 6' seas. Did you get within sight of White Shoal Lighthouse? You did a lot of traveling, all via bike. Dan
