Yes, thats right. After going through a rough patch in 08 and having to part with my beloved 99' 258 Vista, I bought the 91' 255 Sundowner in 2010 that I had talked about on the site. The Sundowner was absolutely, hands down, the best built and most reliable boat I have ever owned!

Today I sold it  It was very hard for me as the Sundowner was in excellent shape (see pictures).

The boat went to a 19 year old guy who will use it for fishing and the occasional joy ride. Hes going to trailer it. But I trust him completely with it, he was very responsible and was so excited about the boat, it reminded me of me buying my 1st boat  It was VERY hard for me to let go of the Sundowner but I think Ill quickly get over it when Im cruising on the new 278..

Anyways, I was making room for my new addition, a 1997 Vista 278 with 90.8 hours!! It has a generator and is basically brand new. The microwave, stovetop and shower have never even been used... talk about a treasure :D Ive already taken delivery but Ive been so busy trying to sell the Sundowner I havent had any time to play in the new boat yet, lol.

So anyways, not new to Vista's, but definitely new to Vista's with twin engines...lol.

I have this same boat, although a little more 'experinced'. You will love it! Great purchase. Would you like me to bring it around from Coopersville, MI? You buy the gas, I drive the boat. It'll need to wait til April though. Dan

What are your plans for the Arch?

Have 3 different guys quoting me for the job to hinge the radar arch right now.

I told them, if it costs more than $1000 for parts & labor combined, then they can simply give me a quote on removal of the arch (4 bolts and the bimini is NOT integral to the arch, thank GOD...lol) and I will re-install the VHF radio antenna and NAV light myself.

For people reading, I live in a canal which navigating under a bridge is necessary to get into. The bridge gives anywhere from 7' of clearance from the water line to 9' depending on water levels. My neighbor has a 268 Vista with an arch that he got hinged however he has to drop his bimini (fold it back) every time he goes under the bridge, otherwise he'd have an insurance claim...lol.

I've seen a few of them without the arch. That takes away the from the 278's nice lines.

I'd keep the arch at any cost

Removed the radar arch yesterday, MAN was that thing on GOOD. 4 nuts on each side, then 3M 5200 between the arch and the gunwall itself. Had to PRY the radar arch off, literally. Thankfully no damage to get coat surprisingly, relocated the VHF antenna and have a new all-around light on order. Looks quite naked without the arch (pics to follow).

Tomorrow is my launch day! Gonna be fun running with twins for once 8)
