Yay we didn't get rained out last night! It did rain though, but they didn't say so on TV during the race that I'm aware of. Left the house at 415pm, and got to bed at 215am.

I was sitting 1st row next to the fence at the end of pit road. That last accident at the end of the race actually showered me with bits of aluminum and fiberglass. It was exciting :)

It was a good race Ric,,,I packed it in at 11:30,,,too tired after my trek home from Niagara Falls.

I gotta agree with Monkey Business though,,,,give-em rain tires, windshield wipers and let-em have at it!!!!

Poor Jimmie and Jeffy,,, tee hee hee

They don't produce enough downforce like other forms of racecars that do race in the rain on high banked ovals. When one car spins out and slides half a lap and takes out 90% of the field cause they can't brake or turn, race is over. If you want to see that just go watch a demolition derby.

It was a really good race, I'm really glad they got it going again. I'll have to watch it on TV here sometime this week.

And those motorcycles in the picture above produce downforce?

Ovals or not, delaying a day and a half due to rain sort of sucks. I stopped watching NASCAR when I was 12 due to the complete and utter boringness of the racing. Basically you watch for 20 laps then they wreck, then another 20 laps and another wreck...I don't discount the nerve, talent, physical conditioning and preparation it takes to run in NASCAR, it is just boring. All oval racing is boring, really. Get on a road course or a rally course and see what driving talent really is. Hell, for that matter go to a national level SCCA Solo II and see what driving talent and car control really is. The laws of physics are defied and there are no TV cameras in sight. And it is done in the rain, sun or snow.

Well said, and I agree 100%. No disrespect either but this is why I'm a huge Formula One and MotoGP fan. It's real actual racing. No relentless yellow flags for how ever many laps for no reason at all.

I would have loved to have been there. We go to a couple races a year. People think wrecks are boring?? Then last year would have been a blast for you with the tandem driving...not THAT was boring!! I thought the racing last weekend was crazy fun to watch! We also go to the Moto GP races, but it doesn't interest me. They drive by for a couple seconds and then they are gone. We are going to Watkins Glen this year too....it will be interesting.

No, Oval racing is boring. The fact that you asked the quetsion proves it. The wrecks are the only "exciting" part. WTH? Lets "drive" for 500 miles and get in 3-4 big wrecks and ruin millions of dollars worth of equipment, all for entertainment. WTH? I'm pretty convinced that without wrecks, NASCAR would have 1/2 the fans than it does. Don't get me wrong, the fact the that so many people are profitting from this is truely American and there is a part of me that is fascinated by it all. I just can't stand sitting and watching it for hours.

It can get a tad slow without the accidents, but we still love it. There is so much to racing, that the average person will never know all the rules. Ovals are nicer so you can see the whole race (if you have good seats anyway).
