Whats wrong with the ladder? My 5 year old kid has no problems using a ladder.

Nice pictures of the Optimax outboard.... But I don't think mounting it to an outboard makes it easier to get on the boat, you'd have to hug the engine and climb around the side.

I don't know what kind of forces having a boat on plane puts on the outdrive, probably less than a person standing on that platform. Kinda similar to a Dolfin I guess. But could create some weird handling issues having a big horizontal rudder type device on there.

No thanks. Great concept and idea, but besides the above mentioned concerns, how about where it's located? It's right above the prop.....after all of the preaching about swimming away from the prop area, now we're saying swim right to it??? I don't think so, Tim...

I can see someone's kid getting their foot sliced open within 10 seconds of use using the prop as a step.

I just don't think the drive is made to take that kind of wight. Some one is bound to step on the prop & hurt them selfs. :!:

Weight is not an issue. Sitting at idle and romping to WOT depending on engine is probably putting upwards of 2000lb of force on that unit. Maybe more.

I am sure your right, after all it pushes the boat thought the water. I just don't cars for, someone standing in my drive!

Yeah, I don't either. I don't want a cutting board sticking off the back of my boat that's nearly half the cost of just getting a real swim platform.

Interesting idea... the fact that it's just submerged, would indeed make it easier to get up, rather than a full sized swim platform.. I wonder how wide it is.. does it affect your ability to turn tight corners?

Interesting idea however, when we raft up in shallow water we trim up our drives. It would then appear to be no longer be a flat surface to step up on.

I also agree that this would affect the boats performance.
