Post subject:  Does Four Winns make a big bowrider w/out a big sun pad?
In our search for the next “boat”, we have decided that a big spacious bowrider w/head is what we want.

One of the things we do not like is a large sun pad.
We would rather have the extra space inside the boat.

Two of our favorites are the Monterey 248LS and the SeaRay 240 Sundeck.

I hope you guys know I am not trying to promote other brands.
I am just curious if Four Winns makes (or made) something similar.
I love Four Winns at the shows & hear great things about the boat.

The 240/260 Horizon is a gorgeous boat – but now that we know space is more important than the sun pad, it isn’t for us.

The 244 Funship sorta falls in to what we are looking for.
Unfortunately, I am not a fan of deck boats (the SeaRay 240 is not squared off).
Also not a fan of the two aft seats.

So guys, does Four Winns have anything that I am looking for.
I would love to throw Four Winns in the mix.

The 310 is one of the best new boats on the market right now but WAY over priced for what it is. I'm sure its due to alot of R&D costs, give it a year or 2 and it will be priced right. For the money the Cobalt 282 or even the 302 is the way to go in that boat size.

I would consider the Crownline 270 for that type of boat. Huge interior, no sunpad.

The bow seating in this thing is the biggest I've seen in that size. The lack of the sun pad is the only things that swayed me against it . . . :D

The 270 is the boat i'm on the water on about 80% of the time. Nice boat.

Unfortunately I don't have enough loose change around to cover that one :lol:
And... it wouldn’t trailer easy.

Cincy, the Crownline doesn’t look bad at all.
I still don’t think it has the same amount of space inside as the Mont & SR.

Great input gents – my ears and eyes are still open.
Any other suggestions from Four Winns?

I got the 310 about 2 months ago.

GREAT BOAT !!!!!

Over priced ???? I don't know, I thought for what I got it was priced right.

You can't go wrong with this one. I got the twin 6.2 L, so I can only speak for my prformance which is fast, smooth, great cruise speed, great handeling, etc.

As you can see, I'm very happy.

All the boats shown are just beautiful but for the life of me, the wife and I were talking about this yesterday, why anyone wouldn't want the sundeck... its a sundeck, a picnic table, a seat, a place to load stuff on the boat, a place to change your shoes outside the carpeted area of the boat, place to get your gear on for skiing, a place to lash the tube so your not dragging it back to the slip, place to kneel as I install or take off the canvas and it makes engine access so simple like popping a hood on a car.... :lol:

I live in Fort Myers, on the river about 2 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.

I keep the boat on a lift out of the water. I have also put money down on a Dry stack going up at teh Fort Myers Boat Club.

Beautiful boat & beautiful family Tom :D

I live in Tampa, about 2 miles from the city ramp on the Hillsborough river, which eventually leads to the gulf. Somewhat similar I guess.

Architectdave, I am on the wrong site to be knocking sunpads - but my wife and I can't for the life of us figure out why people like them :)

We would rather have the space inside the boat than on the boat.
As far as loading, shoes on/of, ski prep - that's what ESPs are for.
And on all the 25 ft boats I have seen have easy engine access w/w/out a sunpad.

Perhaps the biggest detractor for us on the sunpad -- we don't like to bake in the sun & that is what the main purpose is.

If we lived in the northeast (where we both grew up) - catching those rays for a few months is cool. Down here we get tired of the heat.

Anyway, to each there own. We are in the minority, because there are tons more boats sold w/ sunpads than w/out. For us.... keep the twin mattress off our boat & give us more room :D

Last note Dave, are you a Maine resident originally or did you move there as an adult?
I spent the first 19 years of my life in Washington County.
We absolutely love Maine. Someday we will have a place in Maine and Florida.

Hey Lambert - Im not knocking the seating option for sure all the boats shown are awesome. I just thought it was funny that the wife and I had the conversation a day bfore i read the post. I was born here and spent most of my life here in Maine. You are correct that one day in August thats sunny up here is what the sundeck is for... :P My wife is a sun worshiper.... I think I like the looks of the sundeck too..... but thats whats so great about this sport we can all get pretty much exactly what we want!!!!!
