I just bought a 2006 210 horizon bow rider, it has no anchor. Could someone tell me what size/style best works and fits in the anchor locker? I'm also looking at plastic coated anchors are they worth it? Boating in fresh water. |

No on the rubber coated anchor but rubber coated chain yes. Get a Danforth style...the size that will fit in your anchor locker. |

No on the anchor because it doesn't work? Dpes anyone know what size anchor will fitt on the locker? The boat is 150 mi away and I want to bring it with me. |

The factory locker is for a danforth style. The front goes in the hole and the little legs that stick out lock into these plastic clips. Plastic coated anchor? Waste of $$. I've had my anchor for years with various boats (happens to fit H180 perfect) and it still looks like new. I boat freshwater lakes that are 10-20ft deep muck/sand bottom. I just use 50ft of anchor rope no chain. Boat doesn't go anywhere. I just beach it 99% of the time anyways. |

Plastic coating over a short period will just get chewed up and not stay on. Plus, that rubber coating will keep it from fitting into the locker properly. I am sorry I do not know the size that will fit in your locker. I use 15' of coated chain as I had an issue with drifting a few times in a cove with a swift current. |

Always add chain to your anchor. It helps it set easier, and hold more securely. |

I don't disagree with anything already said, but as always I'll put in a plug for the Chene Anchor. It's cheap, holds and releases very well on both the mud bottoms of Kansas and the rock & log bottoms of Missouri. And, I use NO chain on it, no additional scope beyond what it takes to hit the bottom, and have never had a problem as a result. To the OP - the best anchor for you will be determined by the type of bottom conditions you have, not whether it's fresh or saltwater. |

If you want to fill the anchor locker, then the danforth. If you want a good functioning anchor, first you need to know the bottom where you will be anchoring. Rocky bottom - grappling, sandy/muddy - danforth....west marine has a good description of anchor uses. I second, the more chain the better. On our old sail, we ran straight chain. |
