2004 H200 with the GXi/SX 4.3 (225hp).

The price seems good, boat looks perfectly clean. How is the GXi 4.3? It makes the same HP as a standard 5.0, but does it have the grunt of it? The boat will be used for cruising and normally hold 4-6 people.

The tower will go away I'm sure it's so ugly, but other then that... I'm just concerned about the engine but from what I can research the GXi 4.3 actually has some balls..

We're going saturday morning to do a seatrial. Going to load it up like how he would take it out on a normal day.

Looks like a great buy. The 4.3 mpi would be very nice in that boat with plenty of power. Only possible issue I could think of is being in Florida was if it was used in salt water. If it has it eventually could need exhaust manifolds but that wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I'd definitely prefer the 5.0, but depending on how he'll use the boat the 4.3 might be OK. It's a case where a meaningful sea trial will tell the tale. But he should remember that there are lots of boats for sale.

It should have more grunt than the 5.0 motor. Less weight & fuel injection. Mercury rates the 5.0 carb at 220 hp & the 4.3 mpi as high as 240.

Scratch the salt water concern just reread the ad & it says fresh water only.

The boat is fresh water only, he lives on a lake about 15mi north of me. It was kept at wet dock in the summer and in dry storage for the winter. I'll inspect for blisters but if it's anything like my wet docked H180, it should be flawless.

2004 should also be fully FRP right? No wood?

I'm just worried about the horsepowers. It's 600lb heavier then my boat with 100 more powers. Fully loaded with 6 healthy adults and supplies it might not be too happy?

My boat's happy spot is 4 adults with the 3.0. Anything more then that and the lack of power is very noticeable. I had 8 full sized adults in it once... hahahaha I'm amazed the engine didn't come out and beat the crap out of me for even attempting it. It took nearly 4k rpms to stay on plane!

Boat should have no problem with power.
Your 180 is 2440# with 130 hp or 18.77 lbs per horsepower

2004 200 is 3090# with 225 hp or 13.75 lbs per horsepower

His boat will have 36% more power per pound of boat than yours.

I hate saying it but it needs to be considered. Passenger load of 6 ppl could easily be 1200lb for them not including gear. They will always be close to the max rated cap of 1450lb.

I have a 1999 200. It has a 5.7 carb rated 250 hp. With 8 passengers - 6 adults - 2 young adults we still had plenty of power. Had no problem tubing & knee boarding all day. Hole shot was still good.

Just a question on why some don't like the wakeboard tower?
I would think it would be desirable for skiing and watersports?
If your buddy buys the boat and doesn't want the tower, I might be interested in buying it from him.

I got the 2008 H200 Frenzy model and have found it quite capable for the boat of its size I bought mine in 2010 although an 08 it was still new and unused. It now has 180 hrs on it. cant wait for the warmer weather. Whilst washing out the ski locker with my head in the locker looking forward I saw a plywood subfloor part across the front under the deck? it's the only wooden part I have found. Great Boat though. may have paid over the odds back then I am not sure $29.999 with all the nessasary safety equip flares anchor life jkts.lines, etc inc. what do you think pricewise?
