$14,500 for a minty 238 Vista with A/C. I bet this could be had for 12k cash out the door.

I'm starting to rethink my plan to get a 18k 205 Sundowner when I can get a Vista with more room for less!

I wont bash Sundowners because everybody has different wants and needs in their boating. To each his own. For me though...I would by a small Vista over a Sundowner any day of the week. I just cant see any level of comfort in being hunched over trying to get in and out of one.

Sharp looking boat. Looks like it's been very well maintained. +1 on the Vista over the Sundowner. If you're not too concerned about the differences in speed and are really more focused on having a cabin, the Vista would be the way to go. The A/C is an especially nice option given where you live. I can't imagine it would be too comfy in a Sundowner cabin after a 90+ day. You think it's easy to spend time and money on your Horizon....just wait until you step into the world of express cruisers!

Even a 238 Vista is just too big for my lake. I wish I could buy it. Looks beautiful and the price is perfect.

If I remember correctly Ric, you enjoy wining and dining the ladies. There's no camparison with the Vista. Your little fella will thank you. Get another lake to go with the Vista.

One day. I'm not quite ready to give up getting home from work everyday and hopping on the boat in my backyard. My neighbor has a 24ft Regal deck boat which is bigger then a modern 205 Sundowner. He does okay. I don't plan to sleep in a 205 much at all, I just like the overall layout better compared to a bow rider. I grew up on sailboats, it's so weird to be on boat without an inside. Even a small inside.

Just in case any of you do go for a 238 make sure it's duo-prop. I tried both before settling on the duo, there is a big difference in performance.

Any boat I get next (238 or 205 SD) will have to be duo. Even on my H180 I can feel the prop slip and loose "traction". I could only imagine what that's line on a heavier boat with the same size prop. Yuck. Even the spec sheets reflect at least 5mph faster and 1-2gph better with duo compared to SX on all models. On a side note, like that $14,5 238.. I've found complete duo drives with engines for under 3k used on craigslist so if needed I could buy that and sell the upper/engine and come out even. Half tempted to do that on my 3.0 H180!

I agree with the DP over the SX drive!! Punch the throttle and you're out of the whole- and planning in no time!-even w/ 6 people on board. I love the 238--my family and I - wife, 2 kids have done many an overnight on it---it is cozy, but very doable.....I love this boat!! Paid 10.5k for mine (w/trailer!) end of '08.....freshwater boat, no bottom paint, re-powered in '05.....
I noticed that this one doesn't have the factory installed stove.....but has the sink in the head.......

Nonsense, if you like it who cares what everyone else thinks, unless the lake is too shallow.
Go for it....
