Post subject:  Captain's Choice Exhaust Solenoid Change
Has anyone changed any solenoids on their system, seems that one side shuts off but the other side doesn't so I have it half quiet. Really would love the system to be quiet all the time! If you have done this change on your system let me know how much is involved. Thanks for your help and advice

I have not done it but even with both of mine shutting off, they are still loud. Wish they sealed off better.

I wish the boat didn't have the system entirely to be honest with you! I like it quiet so I can hear the music and the wind not that god awful noise lol I must be getting old!

I totally agree, I've looked into getting it removed but it's way down the list. Sounds cool and its fun if I'm by myself but it gets annoying quick.

Try cycling it 3 or 4 times at idle, or engine off. I found when new, mine would stick open occasionally. After cycling a few times, it seems to close well at 5 years old now and they dont seem to stick any more. Open the hood and make sure they are going through the full throw before you get too far into it.

Going to play with them today if it doesn't rain like the flood again. Corsa actually has a page that helps you figure out if they are working, how to adjust them and how to replace them also, I was surprised to see all the great information on them. +1 it's cool at the dock when you turn the boat on to have them open and at the last fricken buoy at Black Point which seems like it's 20 minutes of no wake zone before your free! I open her up a little to get her on plane after that it's time to click it to silent mode and cruise at 25 to 35 my no suds on the beer zone.

Did you ever move them by hand? I can move the actuator at the side of the exhaust but it just jumps back to open when I let go.

Easier fix if you want it near permanently quiet. I had the mechanic put an expanding spray foam sealant in the exhaust tube leading to side hull exhaust. Forces it to exit prop exhaust port. My always leaked before and even in quiet setting was too loud for me.

My testosterone loved the loud pipes but it's night and day difference now. I love cruising and being able to hold a conversation with those aboard without shouting.

Also, from the research I could gather you'll never get that solenoid to close the damper 100% and it'll always leak. Although maybe Corsa has a newer design that's better and seals completely in the "off" position.

Should snap back to Shut. Make sure you are not operating them above about 1000-1500 RPM. The back pressure could keep them from shutting. I have no issues switching at idle, putting in and out of the no-wake zone, it almost sounds like I shut the engine off. You can hear the belt/pulleys, etc louder than the exhaust at that point. I especially like them open when I go under a low bridge. They are off for water sports as the sound gets horrendous, even with PP at those low speeds as the engine speeds up... unnerving if you are the one on the tube. It makes video (audio) unusable.

I had one that the shaft split in two. It would never close, my solution was to buy some elbows and pull the Y-pipe and then put 4" rubber covers over the holes through the hull. Works just fine and is much more quiet.
