Okay so the weather forecast for my are looks terrible for the weekend, anyone ever have this predicament. Or boat is a 2hr drive and there is a 40% chance ofrain for Saturday and 60% for Sunday and the temps are down. we have other things at the marina we can do but we haven't spent a weekend at home in 4 weeks!!!
What does everyone else do?

With the bowrider we stay at home and find other things to do. With small kids, the weather has to be good. When we had our cruiser we would head our regardless. If the weather was bad we could always find other things to do in the area and heading to the boat each weekend was a mini vacation to us.

We are going.........

Wife has a hair appointment after work, so we will leave London about 8pm this evening, stop at a video store in route to boat and grab a DVD movie for my 9 year son and my wife and then arrive at boat before 10pm. The movies help put some time in when the weather is crappy. Nice way to spend some relaxing time on the boat, plus my wife brings her ipad and my son has his ipod to play with. We also get about 12 TV stations that come in reasonably well if it takes a while for the weather to improve.

Hope the weather is alright to at least get a short boat ride in on Sunday before our 1 1/2 hour drive back home.

Mike.

I'm fortunate to live 15 minutes from our marina, so to go or not to go is never an issue...for me anyway. I'd much rather spend the day on the docks with foul weather and great friends than kick around at home!

I did purchase a roku for the boat. Nifty little device that lets me stream netflix and hbo go to our TV. My wife and I sat through about 3 hours of rain last Saturday watching netflix!!

Another nice device for those rainy days at the marina (if you have WiFi) is a slingbox. Since you are paying for TV at home , why not have everything you pay for at the boat too ! A neighbor at our former marina had one, and we watched sports and movies on it several times when it was not worth taking the boats out.

Yes we have wifi at our marina, we also have a playbook and you can stream everything off it and I bought a cord to hook it up to the tv I installed.

What? Are you afraid your boat is going to get wet?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. It's one of my favorite sayings when talking to my fellow boaters about the chances of us hitting the water when inclimate weather is forecast.

We always go, a bad weekend away is better than a boring weekend at home, it's a short season.

Nope not afraid of getting wet it is the 3 and 4yr old I need to keep occupied. We have a dock sale on Saturday and safety checks after so will occupy some time... We have a covered slip it is not bad when it rains. We can still sit on the dock and be dry

We go! We belong to a yacht club & there is always something going on. The club house has a bar that serves good food. Music, at times a DJ, or we watch what ever game is on. Worst case, on the boat.

GO! There is no such thing as a bad day at the lake. Even if all you do is hang around with your slip neighbors and relax, its better than being at home (while wishing you went to the marina).

If you look at Logan, in the back ground you will see a striped water tower. I am at the yacht club just to the left of that. It also depends how high you are too! We did plan to go up the Charles with 8 other boaters today. To visit the Newton club, but it was cancelled. Going though the locks is a fun, but the RR bridge is a pain to wait for.

I love to see the sail boaters faces when we go up. We just do head way speed, but some of them panic and don't know what to do.

Mike, as you know my boat is just a few miles south of yours. With the crappy weather and a covered slip, I was floating at 5 PM Friday. It's a no brainer. The wifey was away working all weekend and the marina was almost deserted. Keystone Light and I had a great weekend :D

On a side note, one of my dock neighbours has a cottage on Thorah Island. The recently overhauled island harbour was all but destroyed from the storm. All of the floating docks were ripped away and a lot of damage to all of the boats.
