Just curious, how many of you guys actually monitor your boats WOT speed and the corresponding engine RPM at least once or twice a year?
I normally early in our boating season each year, hit the throttles wide open and trim the drives up just to make sure I hit the recommended WOT RPM and I note the speed obtained.
Last weekend during my approximate 60 second WOT with our 2001 328 Vista, twin 5.7 litre with Volvo duoprops the starboard engine was about 4900 RPM's while my port was about 4800 RPM's and the GPS read 44.2 MPH. This was with half fuel and wife and son on board. Pretty hot day with about a one foot chop on lake.
I'd suggest posting your boat model, year, engine and drive and what your results are if you know your WOT results. Might make for some interesting reading?
P.S. Don't be shy, this question is aimed at any boat between 16' to 46' feet.
