Beautiful mid-day on Lake Michigan yesterday. We took the boat to North Shore Park Beach for a birthday party some friends were having for their 1 year old. We anchored nicely off the swim area and were able to wade in from waist deep water. As the party progressed, we look over the lake and see the dark front moving in quickly from the west. Also notice hundreds of boats from all compass points heading towards the safety of Grand Haven. We excused ourselves from the party, got back in the boat and enjoyed the race/chaos back to the pier and down the channel. It was amazing how well that many (hundred-hundred fifty) boats of all sizes were working together in a tight area to make sure everyone had enough room, but kept it tight so more cold fit. We were 6 to 8 boats across in the main channel moving at more than a no-wake speed. All concerned about the weather and getting back to our refuge place. Of course the storm blew by, and we never got wet.

No pix, to busy watching others around me. The lightning was awesome!

Always be prepared on the big lake, that is so true!

I was at the beach on the south end of the lake watching that front come at you guys on the radar! It was a massive red blob! We got ours not long after that, but I guess we needed the rain. Lake Michigan was perfect by us today, how was it up there by you guys(West Michigan)?
