We did the Upper Chesapeake Bay version of the Great Loop on Saturday... A 30 mile cruise that started in the North East River went past the Susquehanna Flats, up to the Susquehanna River, back to the Havre De Grace, to Turkey Point and back to the Home Port of North East River Marina. He are some pix sorry about the size.

Did ya swim in the Susquehanna? Nice to have fresh water for a change. We got up there a few years ago and had a fine time. But it's a long haul for us down in Annapolis, without a lot of other things along the way. Sorta like making the trip to Solomons or Crisfield. Nice when you get there but a bit of a haul along the way.

Nice pix, btw.

Bill -- The flow in that part of the Susky is pretty fast so we don't even dare dip in...We do however frequent the Susquehanna Flats... Anchor in about two feet of water. If you ever make it up to the North East River, the Wellwood Restaurant (Charlestown, MD) has it's own dock and free transient slips. A nice place for lunch or dinner.

We motored up a little from Havre de Grace and took a dip. Yeah, there was some current but nothing too dramatic. I like to run out two float loungers out on 35' 3/8 lines. Those give a nice resting spots and tethers to hang on. Man, was it refreshing to hit that cool, fresh water on a very hot summer afternoon.

Thanks for the Wellwood tip. I'll keep it in mind for our next excursion north.
