Aren't you getting a "new " boat next week ?? 90 gallon tank on the Baja, what is the burn rate per hour ?? 20 GPH ? It does look nice |

@ 40mph cruse... 14.5gph I have yet to sign any paperwork. Keeping my options open due to old guy and his title issues and how he still owes the bank. I'm also trying to find other 2002-2005 cuddy's in the 20-24ft range but I have no idea what brands to look for that are comparable to a 2003+ 205. I have 17k to pay with sitting in my bank. |

Sounds like either way you are officially done with that little private lake you were on. Are you going to slip your next boat or trailer? |

That's why I'm going for 205 sundowner I get an inside but it fits my lake. Old man is being old and there's simply no 205's for sale in Florida other then his. |

How about Crownlines ?? any of those available down there. I could not find any bargains on these when we were looking, but they are very nice boats. My boat at 40MPH, gulps at about 18GPH. I can do a solid 4BPH ( beers per hour), maybe more tomorrow when it hits 100 degrees. |

The formula for this article is xhp * .4lbs / 6lbs or replacing x with boat horse power x*.4/6= gals per hour (Top number) x*.45/6=gals per hour (Bottom number) This gives you a range of gas consumption. Based on this formula here is a little table for ya. Gas consumption for boats calculated by engine horse power 300 hp = 20 - 22.5 gallons per hour (gph) 200 hp = 13 - 15 gph 150 hp = 10 - 11.25 gph 100 hp = 6.6 - 7.5 gph 50 hp = 3.3 - 3.75 gph At $5 per gallon that means 300hp = $100 - $112.50 per hour! For 3-4 hrs of tubing/Skiing = $300 - $450 per day.........PER DAY!! OUCH!!! When you think of it that way. |

It would be so much fun, but yeah.... I'm sticking with the 205. That Baja is only rated for 61mph. The 205 is rated for 53.. a couple of mods I'm sure I could get 60 out of it (if I wanted to but won't) |

My 320HP has been averaging about 5.8 GPH this season. Worst fill up was 7.2 GPH... lots of WOT on that run! Needless to say I find your above equation a little "off". I do also track ALL boating expenses (Gas, insurance, lake pass, registration on boat and trailer, maint, tires and even factor in $150/yr to replace the cover every 5-6 yrs), and divide that by the hrs used per season. With the boat paid off I am at $60/hr (with payments it came out to $167/hr). As an aside, if anyone would like a copy of that spreadsheet, PM me with your email address. |

I never calculated the gph on mine...but I have 300hp. After 12 hrs on water i filled up with a litter over 20 gallons....not sure of how many hours were on anchor but then again I'm not out there watching a clock. Doesn't seem bad cuz that's our normal boating day. As far as the Baja...wonder how many of those 360 hrs were at highakkkkka (wot). |
