Make sure you have 20-25k per year to run it and maintain it.....after you pay for it.

There's a lot of 348/358 owners on this board, check in the Vista section for advice. But not many 378 owners. We looked at one before we bought the 358, very nice but too wide for our slip. The cockpit setup is a little different with the cabin door all the way to the portside, but that's a personal preference.

I think alanurt is overestimating the annual costs. Last season I spend $3500 for a slip, $1800 for fuel, $1600 for engine/drive maintanance, $1200 for hauling, wrapping and winterizing. I don't know why a 378 would be tripple that, plus inboards should be less maintenance. Unless he's including beer?

I think he is including the monthly payment. Depending on what that is, could put your yearly expense close to 17K per year, until it is paid off.
Beer tab would be a significant amount for me

The costs are not that high. we have a 378 with diesels and IPS, and spend about 10K (including slip, fuel, and misc repairs/maintenance). Love the boat, perfect for us. I just wish I had 20K to put on a hydrolic swim platform...

Thanks for all your feed back, just wanted some info on the 2007 378, not much here on the 378 I did some searches. I think alanurt thought I referring to an 878 ocean cruiser ~. I am looking at the 07 378 V drive gas , because of lower maintenance cost, I was woundering about performance percentage between the other drive packages and if it is a significant factor ? Also pros & cons on four winns and or the 378 in general. thanks Bob

BAP,

Of course annual cost is a varible due to differences in marina fee's, storage fee's and usage. I can tell you this much, round trip from home marina and Frankfort, MI last week was exactly 140 mile. Filled before leaving and upon return, 0.72 mpg. Calm water and engines recently tuned. This boat likes her beverage as much as I do! Mine is 2006, also with the gas 8.1's.

$1800 in fuel ?? I'm close to that already this year and boat didn't get wet until Mother's day and I have a single engine 351. Headed to Torch Lake MI, this next week, budgeted $ 600 in gas for the next 2 weeks....

$1800 is about 600 miles on an lake 25 miles long. It does seem a little low, considering I average 70 hours a year. If you figure 30 MPH, that's 30 GPH times 70 hours or 2100 gallons.

The local gas dock keeps all my receipts and sends them to me each fall for my road tax refund. Maybe they missed a few, or bought gas at other places.

Maybe I don't want to know the answer to this question... maybe I can't afford boating :)
