Post subject:  GPS Maps for Ont Waters
Looking at buying a GPS/Fish Finder for the boat, 7" (getting Ol') mostly for navigating around certain waters, Lake Temagami, Lake Temiskaming and the Ottawa River. What Mapping product are you using for waterways in Ontario.
I looked at the Lowrance Elite 7 HDI, after doing some reading, is Lowrance that "Bad" for Marine product??

With the warmer weather coming ( I hope, Frost last night!! ) would like to get out and explore!

I stick with garmin cause you can get all the maps for free but personally I use navionics on my smartphone

I think what you meant to say was you can get he maps if you choose not to pay for them, not for free.

^^ I have a Garmin 536, it came with US maps. None of them come with Canadian maps as far as I know unless you pay for them or chose to crack the unlock mechanism (as in chose to deliberately not pay for them). I'm not criticizing you if you chose to do that, just don't dance around it :p

Ric, again, I know the forum you are referring to, I am a member there as well. That forum has tools to get around the locking and authentication for the maps. They aren't free.

Well if you count the 15 minutes of labor you spend doing it, no. But you're not spending a dime out of pocket
