Post subject:  Raymarine DSM300 replacement/repair

For anyone with the Raymarine DSM300 sounder who is having issues (loss of connection etc), I just sent mine in for repair ( mine is from my 2008 338 vista ) and had it replaced at no cost along with a new power cable. I read somewhere that FLIR is repairing/replacing the DSM300 modules as part of a special program. I thought I would post this for anyone interested. This may be old news but may be an opportunity to have your DSM300 repaired at no cost...the best type of boat repair! I believe the program is in place through the end of 2013.

Where is yours located on the 338? The factory installed location on the 318 is just about inaccessible.

Mine is located directly behind the chartplotter just to the right. It took about ten minutes to remove

Thanks for the info. Firecadet did pass that on to me last summer. They are very accommodating with these units. I had to add the DSM and installed mine under the helm seat with a power switch to shut the DSM down while anchored to save the battery.

Raymarine processed my unit in about 2 weeks and provided a new power cable, no charge. Mine was becoming problematic at the on of last season.....I actually thought about replacing C80 and related components with one of the new "glass cockpit" systems. Too much $$$$ after buying the V338 last summer

Sounds like what I was experiencing. What transducer are you using? I have the B117 and am having issues with it.

Not to Hijack this thread but have you seen your depth display like this?

This was after I got the new DSM and replaced all the cabling. Raymarine did not have an answer except to replace the B117.

Be happy you guys can reach yours. Mine is next to impossible to reach....thankfully after I reseated the cables I haven't had any futher issues.

I'm not sure which xducer I have. My plotter showed no depth reading and I would receive a "lost connection with sounder" error or something to that effect. I have yet to reinstall my new DSM but I hope the problem has been resolved.
