Anyone using the Garmin iPad Marine app with a Garmin glo for navigating? I have a back up Garmin GPS 62 with marine maps onboard, but for the screen size and price, the iPad with a Garmin GLO is the best thing going. Why are more not using this?? |

iPad air, Lifeproof waterproof case, Ram Mount screwed to helm. Garmin BlueCharts, Garmin Glo. That's my primary navigation system, backed up with paper charts, of course. I use Navionics for longer trips when I need full chartplotter capabilities. |

For me, the Ipad is not waterproof, will not support radar, AIS and sonar. It's screen is not bright eough to read in sunlight. Also it is not NMEA2k or NMEA0183, so I can not monitor GPH and MPG from my engines. Which also means that data from the GPS can not be sent to my VHF so that the DSC function will not work. That would be a bad thing if I really needed help!! I an not trying to be negative, but honest. |
