my 2007 190 horizon came with the faria depth sounder, and it has never worked. my local four winns dealer replaced the guage twice. (both time in the winter so it was never tested by a tech on water) now the dealer tells me that unfortunately it is an issue that is out of warranty. i am the original owner. while on the lake today i swam under the boat to feel for any "sounding", no clicks from the transducer. anyone had similar problems? any soloutions? |

Quite a few posts on here about the same (including me). Smattering of solutions like clean the transducer, replace gauge, replace transducer. Ultimately, I went to an aftermarket fish finder with a transom-mount tranducer. |

How difficult is it to install a new depth sounder as mine is not working correctly also? |

Hi Tony, I had the same issue as you with the same answers and corrections by the dealer. However, they finally fixed it by unplugging the wires at the actual transducer inside the boat, cleaned the connections and reconnected everything. That was last season and everything has worked perfectly since. I do not know if when putting the boat together they left the connections loose or they came loose from boating, no clue! I did find that after the boat has been in the water a couple of weeks the sounder begins to give odd readings. With a good wipe of the transducer plug on the bottom of the boat everything goes back to working order. Hope this helps some... |

thanks md , i'll get in there this weekend and check the connections. tiny, i installed a hummingbird 190c, way easy. power from under the dash, add a 1 amp fuse. i struggled with the thought of putting a 5/8 inch hole in the transom. but all went well. btw you'll need to know "transom angle" check four winns web site for that. |
