Hey, Four Winns friends, I can use some electrical assistance here. This is the situation, we have a 2000 268. When our two AGM batteries were put back in the boat this spring, the both sets of cables from the charger were inadvertently hooked up to just the house battery. And the set of cables from the battery switch were both wrongly hooked up to the starting battery. We didn’t notice this error until this past week when the house battery was getting depleted to about 9 V ( we saw this on the chartplotter). We realize the mistake, and properly connected the all the cables. We also noticed that the 70 amp breaker that’s directly above the isolator was tripped so we reset that. We turned on the charger and left for a week. When we came back to the boat, the batteries had not been charged. We then noticed that there were no lights illuminated on the charger. So that’s one problem. We decided to simply drive the boat a while and hopefully let the alternator charge up the batteries. For a short while our GPS was showing 11.4 V, so it seemed like the alternator was charging the battery, but then it suddenly dropped back down to 9.4. And was getting lower the longer we boated. We got back to the marina and noticed that the 70 amp breaker had tripped again, so that must’ve been preventing the alternator from charging the batteries? at a minimum, I’m assuming that the charger unit is defective and I need a new one. But what would cause the 70 amp breaker to also keep popping. Are they related. Thanks so much for your wisdom.
