You might give http://www.superbrightleds.com a try. I replaced my lights with this: G4-WWHP6-DAC. I started out with the 10 but they were very bright so I put those in the head. I like the soft light in the cabin with the existing lights and the 6 warm white seemed to most closely replicate that. The do run much cooler.

I had forgotten about the light in the head (thanks). I agree the brighter (10) LED would be a good idea there.

Did you also replace the courtesy lamps in the cockpit area? I'm not sure if the 2008 V278 uses the same part, but my 2006 has the wedge base type bulb. My first thought would be to use the same rating LED as the cabin (6 warm light).

Thanks....appreciate your feedback.

Remember LED's are much brighter then normal bulbs. A 5 SMD wedge bulb is really freaking bright. If you're looking for mood or side lighting get 1-2 of each (1 smd and 5 smd) wedge bulbs. You could end up turning your cabin into an observation room.

Just check out some of those LED christmas lights. They use the standard 5mm LED. A 5050 SMD (like on the wedge bulbs) make a 5mm LED look like a candle.

Understood. Thanks ric!

Getting these items into Canada can be an expensive venture (and a bit of a nuisance to return) so I'm hoping to get it all right the first time.

Thanks everyone for the great advice!

Canada? Find one of those Japanese car tuner shops. They'll have all the LED's.

Just wondering, when replacing the G4 bulbs with LEDs in the v berth area (the V278 has 5 pot lights - hope that is the correct term :)) is everyone using the side pin style or the back pin style replacement LED?

Thanks!!
