Those Lumishores are really cool, but 3k is a ton of money for a relatively cheap technology! I ended up going with the Lumitec Seablaze3 in blue for $199 each. It does require a small hole in the transom for the wiring, but it is a surface mount light. I had originaly decided to stay away from any holes in the transom, but after I spoke with the service manager at my dealership he assured me that the required size hole was no big deal. I wired them up to a battery to test them and was blown away by how intensely bright these things are!! Actually I'm kinda worried I did some damage to my retna's playing with the stupid things

I'm dropping them off for install Thursday, and promise to post pics after we launch on May 8th!

Are you mounting them above or below the waterline?

According to the instructions they need to be mounted 8-12" below the waterline. I called Lumitec before I ordered them to make sure they could be left on while underway, and they said that no problem b/c i they get hot they will automatically reduce voltage/output. I found on another forum where someone got a ticket for running with them on...something about impersonation of an emergency vehicle! I guess I better look into that a little more before I run around with them on all the time...at least they will be nice for swimming :D

Good choice on the Seablaze LED's. They are a step up from Oznium and Ocean LED, and not as pricey. Quality product that will last for years.

Glad you mentioned the lights being on while underway. Around here, that is a no no. If the coasties or marine patrol see a boat with those on underway, you will be pulled over and probably ticketed. Also, boats with LED's all over the cockpit, swimplatform, and bow rails, are water cop magnets. It draws attention to you having them on, and often, it is the attention of the law that responds. One reason I will probably not add them, and if I do, they will be on only at the slip, or possibly at anchor. It's an expensive mod, just to have on for limited use IMO.

So far, having mine on (as well as others I know) have not been an issue with the local water cops. My cockpit and bow LED's are installed in a way that they basically provide a gentle glow and they are more oriented faving down then up, so there isnt a lot of "bleeding" that passing boats would see anyway. Although I dont have any underwater LED's, I would like to add them.

I have had my town Fire Chief on my boat with the LED's on and he didnt seem to have a problem with them when we were riding around at night.

I've been stopped for having them on underway and told I needed to turn them off. But mine are brighter then your average underwater leds, because all 100+ leds are mounted under the platform. I would have got stopped if they were not on anyway, but that was the reason they stated at the time.

I just finished installing my under swim platform lights. I went with four total, two spot and two flood. I mounted the two flood on the outside, spots on the inside. Wiring was a breeze. I drilled above and to the right of where Four Winns routed the speedometer cable through the hull, so it is well above the water line. I dropped the headliner in the mid cabin to ease running the wires. When I popped out my accessory blank at the helm, I found two hots, and two ground wires right there, so I did not have to mess with the fuse block.

It'll be a day or two before I get pics. I mounted the lights on the underside of the swim platform, and used 4200 to put them in place. I have duct tape holding them up while the 4200 cures. I'm routing the wiring inside some cable hiders I picked up at Lowe's so it'll be a nice clean install if you happen to look up under my swim platform.

Sounds nice. Here in Kansas, most would just use the duct tape.

I used Gorilla glue and those square zip tie pads. Then zip tied the LED strips on them. 2 years and going strong.

I'm almost done installing two Oznium and two PlasmaLED lights. A flood on each side, and two spots in the middle. They are on the underside of the swim platform. I'm VERY impressed, can't wait to see how it looks in the water. I drilled a hole through the transom above the water line, and turns out there was two extra hot and ground wires behind the two blank accessory spots on my helm. I've got just over $100 in it, including the cable tracks to hide the wiring. Not a bad bang for the buck mod if you ask me.

Love to see some pics of the Lumitec's. Very well made and feature packed lights.
They will look sweet in the clear waters of Lake Michigan !

Txjole2, you probably were stopped since they are red. I spoke to a dealer about this issue when mine were installed. He said that you are able to run with underwater lights if they are blue, but not red or green since they are the same colors of your navigation lights. I didn't ask about white though. Also, I did ask an officer at my marina, he said that sounded correct, but he didn't sound quite sure. But he did say since mine were blue, I should be fine since the blue should not be mistaken for nav lights.

Not sure if offshore rules are any different.

Here are the LEDs I installed under my swim platform. I used 4 blue superbright LEDs I bought here:

http://www.oznium.com/marine-led-floodlight

I'll have to get some "in the water pics" of them on here soon...

I asked about that and was told only nav and running light can be displayed outside the gunnel while in motion.
