I want to mount a docking light on the bow of my boat. Any tips, tricks, advice on a good location to mount one? I was thinking on the bowrail or the anchor locker lid, whichever is better. Best way to run wiring?

Was looking at a few LED lights like these:

I mounted the types in your pic to my arch.

I think you want these. http://www.boatersland.com/sdg4059501.h ... 4AodkHEAUQ OR http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/us ... 5&type=pla

But, for me, a spot light works better!

Thanks for the links Paul, but I don't want to have to cut into my side hull for those type lights. I have used a handheld spotlight, and I just don't like holding that, steering, fighting a 4 knot current, and making sure the Admiral doesn't fall off the bow while trying to secure a line

I have found a few LED's that are smaller than my pics (just didn't feel like posting allll of them), I have a pretty good idea of how I want to mount it, but snaking wiring is gonna be a pain. Since I have already used a bunch of advice, tips, and tricks from everyone here, was hoping someone might have already blazed this trail, so to speak...

Wish I had an arch..... :?

The LED ones, you just need to drill a hole to pass the wire. There surface mounted.

As to the arch, there are all types of after market ones. I bought mine from here, http://www.atlantictowers.com/products_fishing_arch.php

But most of you boaters want the wake board type, these are radar and fishing arches

Ooops, guess I should have looked closer at those Paul, now ya got me thinking maybe I should go for the side mounts....and I would love a regular arch, not wakeboard type, but I don't think the Sundowner would look quite right with one :P

Remember, were you place them on the hull will dictate were they will shine. Once mounted, theres no adjustment!

I had them on my last boat. I built up the bottom of them with 1/4" starboard because they were pionted down due to the hull.

Yeah, I figure if I get the surface mounted ones, I will tape them on the hull, wait til night and turn them on to figure out where they should be BEFORE I do any drilling!
