So I discovered Sunday that my two batteries have finally kicked the bucket. As I have been looking around I have came across many options so I wanted to get some feedback on what brands people have had the best luck with.

Also as the two that came out of the boat where Interstate Cranking with a 800 CCA. As I have been shopping around I haven't found any 800 CCA. Do i need to have at least 800 CCA or could i get by with something smaller? My motor is a Merc 350 Mag MPI.

Deka is my favorite brand, they always treat me good. What group size battery fits your box? Probably 27. Deka makes a Group 27 Marine Master (dual purpose) 715CCA with 90 amp hours of storage. Enough to run a standard stereo setup all day long without worries.

Actually thats what I have in my boat, a pair of Deka gp 27 dual purpose batteries. They have been very good and I'd definitely buy another pair when the time comes.....
Check with Merc to see what the cca or mca cranking requirement is for that engine. Some of the fuel injected engines do take a larger capacity battery to start than the old school carbed ones...

Merc Manual call for 800 CCA, 1000 MCA, or 190 Ah for the DTS. Though mine calls for 750 CCA, I only have 600's. I'll have to pay attention when I need to replace next.

I've been running the Wal-Mart Everstarts for a couple of years since my originals died out. No performance difference whatsoever and much cheaper. They have one of the best full replacement warranties out there.

I've been using them in my cars for years with no issues. The few times I've had to replace them it has been within warranty and it is always full replacement with no cost to me and no questions asked.

My boat had two Sears DieHard marine deep cycle batteries installed when I bought it. So far they have been great. I've run the stereo and lights for most of the day and night on one battery and it still had enough to start the engine the next morning.

They are dated 2009 though so I'm thinking they may get replaced after this season.

I found Exide Stowaway Starting with the 800 CCA today on sale and picked two of them up. While in the store I pulled up some online reviews and it seems its 50/50 with this brand. But from what I read it seems all the negative feedback came from not maintaining the battery. I learned my lesson with maintaining them (that's why I am buying new batteries). Later today I am going pick up a battery tender jr to get them most out of these. Hopefully this will keep me on the water all season.

Here is some info about Interstates........http://bestbatterytips.com/tags/who-makes-interstate-batteries/

Personally, I buy Kirkland (Costco) Same battery as Interstate and alot easier to find and deal with........the return/core procedure is easy!.......plus I can get a hot dog and coke for $1.50 out of the deal

What batteries do you get there? The Costco by me didn't seem to have anything close to what I needed to replace my dead battery....
