Post subject:  Dual Battery Condition Indicator

Hello

I have a 1999 220 Horizon with a dual batteries setup. Just curious to see if anybody has the same setup but with a battery condition indicator in the mix. I'd like to install one ideally on my dash but not sure it's possible for monitor 2 batteries with a single gauge.

Thanks!

My/The on board charger will condition them. If you don't have a on board charger I would install a ProMariner charger. As in there, ProSport 8amp or 12amp. Its not that much more$$!!

To take it a step farther, for a little more $$, go with there 3 bank setup and if you ever install a 3rd battery you will be all set. Plus, since they load share, all of the amps will go to the 2 batteries until the 3rd one is installed.

Now maybe I missunderstood so just in case, I am putting in a LED read out/indicator for my house batteries. If I want, I can put a switch in to read my starting batteries too. Say a SPDT type.

What LED indicator do you have? also what exact switch would you use?

I was looking into this indicator.

Bought it at cabela's. Listed on Overtons for $50. I have each batt, and #3 is on the Alt.

The Farir is good too, but the Dualpro can be surfaced mounted and is about 1/4 high.

A switch like this one and add the boot to make it water tight: http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?pa ... &id=913854

ProMariner makes great charges!! But there monitor only shows 3 states, Full, 1/2 & dead. Nothing in between.

There's another (high?) that indicates when it's running... the red lights come on the #3 (alt) when running, and occasionally the batt that is being charged. I just need 2 lights.... Good or Bad. It's simple, it's cheap, but I don't think it will reach the dash. As you see in my thread, mine is located in the Batt area. Plus I didn't see anything to indicate you are looking for a charger in the OP.

Will a DPDT work? Not sure what the difference is.

DPDT = Double pole double throw Yes it will work, just needs to be wired right.

SPST is in you home light switch - single pole single throw

See http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=dpd ... tedIndex=1

Were the outputs could be the batteries and the input your meter/guage. In the pic, Red for pos+ and Blue for Neg-

BUT, a SPDT would work and just tie all your grounds toghther and ONLY switch the POS wires.
