Well, this weekend my volt gauge took a crap. Reading 14.5 at the alternator so I'm charging fine. Any ideas? I haven't tested the gauge yet (not at the boat). Just curios if anyone's had a similar issue.

Thanks all

Mine reads about 1v off (normal)

Ric, I'd take that! I've got a dead gauge altogether.

Post a pic of what style it is. Should be easy to find a replacement if broke. Just verify you have voltages at the wires connecting to the gauge.

Yep, that's the plan this weekend....I'll update later.

Connections are always the first to go, I'd start there and then troubleshoot my way to the gauge itself.

If it's a Faria(should be) and you find the gauge is bad, they have a really nice exchange program. I sent them in my voltmeter and got a new one shipped back for around 20 bucks.

Mine also reads one volt low. These gauges are not particularly accurate so it makes sense to verify the voltage a the helm with a digital voltmeter.

one volt low is normal due to voltage drops in small diameter wire over 15-20ft
