Installed and works perfect. Barely gets warm. Plug it in and forget about till spring.

I want to install a 110 ac socket for on board Battery charger. Somewhere in the back transom area of boat. Any thoughts out there? |

Question. For storage should I turn all power off at Perko switch, or just leave boat powered up . Battery maintainer will keep batts charged. Wouldn't have to reset clock etc. |

The clock on the radio should still keep time if wired correctly. The bilge pump and radio clock should always have power regardless of the switch. I actually always turn my batteries off and any 110v breakers except the battery charger and fridge when I am away from the boat. In the winter the batteries come out and are stored inside and maintained. It's kinda peace of mind turning the switch off in case I left something on in the boat or a switch goes flaky from getting wet from rain. I know breakers are in place but no sense in keeping electronics on when not in use. |

Yea Turning power off probably would be best option. My boat stays in my heated garage all winter. Just keep the Maintainer plugged in. That is now, since I just installed it. |

This charger is more than a "Battery maintainer" If my memory is right, its a 3 stage charger. Which is a whole lot better! Most battery maintainers will not condition a battery or go total into a sleep mode ( Energy Saver Mode ). This one will. In the manual, there also stating for long term storage to turn the power off & on every 30 days. This will put that charger into a test mode. Personally, I would put it on a timer. There is no need to have it on 24/7 for 4 to 6 months. |

Yes it does condition and goes in maintain mode ,Then storage mode.Every 30 days it recycles. |

Yes its a ProMariner Marine12HD Gen 3 Dual bank, about $110.00. Worth every penny. |

If you have VSR, you will need to disable them too You are correct that the banks are only combined when the switch is combined, but off also allows the charger to charge and maintain the battery and not power parasitic loads if the switch was left on 1 or 2. If there is a dual bank and a VSR wired to a conventional dual battery switch, then yes, the VSR needs to be defeated or it will combine the banks. But, if the VSR is being used with the better dual circuit plus switch, then off is off for both banks and the VSR is also isolated from the batteries at the same time. |
