I've seen a lot of posts on inverters lately and its got me thinking of installing one. Any 298 owners installed one? If so, where did you install it?

I also would like info on how and where to install it.
I have a brand new 3000w in the garage, and its about time I install it.
I looked around and I think the best place for it would be that little useless compartment next to the topside refrigerator.
I think this is the best location because of access, lessens the length of the battery cables and convenience.
This location works for me because I plan on installing a television and Playstation on the arch over the sink for the little ones.

I will check in periodically to see how this develops.

That doesn't sound like a bad place except for the cold water connection to the wet bar goes through there and water may spray on an inverter if a fitting fails which actually happened to me last weekend.

Hmmmmmm
Then my next option would be to install the converter inside the compartment next to it behind the seat on the wall side.
Where are you going to install yours?

Do the math and size the cables and your batteriers right. Total the wattage or amps, take the amps to the distance of the wire needed. http://www.sunforceproducts.com/Support ... nTable.pdf

Remember too, you must added the run both ways. So, if the inverter is 10' away, you need 20' of wire and that the # you use.

Dunno, that's why I started the thread and I still haven't decided to install one seem like a luxury that I probably don't need.

My neighbour at the Marina has offered to help me install my 3000 watt inverter and connect them to 3 in series house batteries.
I will take him up on his offer and send you details and pics once installed.
right now I have too many little projects, for example I just had the below deck lounge/sofa re-upholstered and i'm in the midst of re-installing it.
I had it changed from the original dark blue to off-white, looks much much better.

I'll keep you posted

Do you guys not have a aft cabin foot locker line in our 268's? I can't think of a safer dryer location on my boat.

There is a an aft cabin storage area that is opposite the side of the batteries and the breaker panel. It's also not very deep considering the size of a 2000 watt inverter.

I mounted my 2500 watt inverter to the back wall of the locker and it works well. I got the idea from someone else here who did it first with success as well.

The distance on the other hand could be an issue depending on what the manufacturer recommends.
