Can anyone confirm the type of bulb used in the 268/278 mid cabin lights?

Want to go LED but forgot to take a look.

Here is what I bought on ebay. I had to trim the legs a little but worked fine. I have an 01 248 vista. I am pretty sure they are the same.

The OEM bulbs are a 912 incandescent with the wedge base, same as the anchor light. There are several other incandescents that will fit, with various output levels . I've been looking for LEDs also. I found a couple bulbs in a package at Walmart last week, but they are a whiter and dimmer light than I preferred. Sorry I don't remember the number. If a good slightly brighter LED can be found, it may be good for the anchor light......

Your lights are likely the same as mine. Here is a link to a photo LVchris posted... Same lights I am referring to.

I tried to look up the lights you referenced but not 100% sure I'm looking at the right bulb. I am getting a pile of results when copying your text into Google.

If they are the wedge base I suppose they will also fit in the cockpit lights.

And it is good to know the anchor light is the wedge also. I will be changing them all as soon as I pick a bulb.

I did the lights in the cabin and the head and they work great, I'm hooked and need more!

If your 2003 is the same as my 2002 (and I am sure it is) your lights in the main cabin and head should be the type with 2 exposed bare pins. The aft cabin lights are different. They are the wedge base 912 lamp where the contact wires are folded back on the wedge base, kind of like a wide flat screwdriver blade. I have not really had any success getting an LED light to work in the anchor light pole. I don't have the radar arch, so I have a 6 1/2 foot anchor light pole.

Is this the correct bulb for the mid cabin? Will this work for the main cabin?

I replaced all my main cabin lights with G4s (warm white) and below is the link. At first I thought the 140 lumen was too bright but you get used to it.

According to Rick 2752 these will work in the main cabin and the head. The "G4" is the type of base, 2 pins of that diameter spaced that distance apart. The aft cabin takes a different bulb, commonly referred to as a wedge base. With any of these bulbs, consider what you want in the brightness and color. Warm white is more toward the yellow side of the color spectrum. Some prefer this while others prefer the bright white bulbs.

Thanks Gary, do these look right for the mid/aft cabin lamps?

That should work, but I'm not sure how bright they are. The "3000K" indicates a "warm white" color. I didn't see any indication of how many lumens (brightness). In the main cabin most of the people on this site were looking for 150+ lumens for the main cabin lights. You might settle for slightly less in the aft cabin, but maybe not when you are searching for something. One thing we did was add a separate battery powered LED light in the aft cabin for reading.

Thanks Gary, I will do some searching for the battery powered light for the aft cabin. I went ahead and ordered some, it's a start, cheap enough to see if I like them....

Here's a link to what I used in my cabin. If I recall correctly the cabin uses a different light than what is in the aft cabin. The first ones I ordered were too bright as I preferred a softer light for the cabin. I did end up using the brighter LED in the head and above the galley. This ships out of your area and I've ordered quite a few items from them.

I used a different LED in my anchor light. I used to have some spares laying around and I will check if I still have them and if so I'll meet up with you on the lake before you spend your first night on the hook. Let me look around home tonight and see if I still have some.

That would be awesome, I have read so much on here, and it hadn't sunk in (until now) leaving the anchor light on all night without LED, and the battery draw....

Thanks Flyer!
