Final question (hopefully on this ! )

I can source the following locally and at a good price.
The first would be the starter battery (for which it appears to be well suited)
BLUETOP® Deep Cycle
OPTIMA BT DC 5.5 BLUETOP batteries are dual-purpose batteries. They can be used in any deep-cycle (marine accessory, house applications, trolling motor, bow thrusters) or starting applications.
Benefits:
Starting and dual-purpose (starting and deep-cycling) models available.
Lasts up to 3 times longer than other batteries.
More power in the initial 1, 2, 5 and 10 seconds of the starting process than comparably rated conventional lead-acid batteries.
Constant performance quality keeps your battery running at the same level even as it's being discharged.
Ideal for seasonal use, fully charged it can sit unused for up to 12 months at room temperature (or below) and still provide the power necessary to start your boat's engine.
15 times more resistant to vibration than other batteries.
Nonspillable with complete fitment flexibility; can mount in almost any position.

the second for the house battery

Good choices or not??? , before I pull the trigger !

thanks

not the cheapest batteries in the world, but would they be a good pair to buy for peace of mind, or am I going over the top here LOL

thanks

That's correct , both AGM ..I've gone for a higher rated one for the house battery

No doubt they are good batteries. At 57 kg's or 125 lbs that house battery is going to be a beast to move around.

Odyssey makes a great AGM battery that will take the winter and long term storage without any problems. Say 6 to 8 months and down to -50F. But your in Spain so the cold is not a problem I would think.

I leave mine in all winter and with out charging them until the spring. So I am not pulling them in or out.

I use Optima batteries for a bunch of machines and they have all been great!
Double check the specs on the specific model battery you are getting but they can normally be charged by a charger on the lead acid setting. If your charger does not have different battery type settings.
There are basically 2 different types a dark grey case and a light grey case. The dark grey is a starting/dual purpose for lighter deep cycles like stereos and the light grey case is a deep cycle for trolling and such.
The blue, red, yellow tops are just for the different applications. You can get a blue top of both a dual purpose or deep cycle. Just want to make sure you get the right one.
Don't use a deep cycle for a starting battery. I found a warning somewhere in the Volvo manual you can fry the computer because it cannot provide enough amps when starting.
