I have a 94' or 95' Four Winns Horizon 190 and recently had some major repairs done. Brand new bilge pump, new transom, new bellows...

Last week I came home to a boat full of water with a non-working bilge pump and a detached bellows and had to take it to a marina, 2 hours away.

One bellows was detached and another had a hole in it, but both were covered under warranty. Unfortunately, the bilge pump had a burned out motor (not sure how when it was never left running), so they replaced it.

I picked up my boat, drove it 2 hours back up north, ready for some fun in the sun. Get it in the water and start floating away to find out my trim switch doesn't work. Nothing. No power at all to it. I suppose it could be coincidental, however I dropped off the boat with a working trim switch and brought it home with a non-working trim switch.

I checked the fuses, but there wasn't even a fuse in the "trim switch" slot to begin with. I know the previous owner had a kill switch ran to the radio, but the kill switch has never affected the functionality of the trim switch to begin with. I put in a fuse, for the hell of it, but of course nothing. I'm a little confused how it's ran but I guess that's beside the point... I was hoping to find an easier fix myself, because I have a feeling that the Marina is going to say they had absolutely nothing to do with it and want to charge me another arm and a leg. I'm already pretty unhappy with the fact that I'm driving it another 4 hour round trip just to be looked at.

Also, on a random note, I noticed that the bilge pump that was replaced, wasn't entirely replaced. They replaced the motor only, not the entire base or float switch. That's all fine and dandy, because it works not but I feel like if I paid for the part, I should be getting all of the pieces... ya know, in case maybe my float switch breaks off in a month and I need to replace it. Is this normal practice when paying someone to install a bilge pump?

Needless to say, I'm pretty annoyed with this whole experience and they'll be getting an earful tomorrow, since they weren't open over the weekend while I was floating in the middle of the lake, unable to move.

Any tips on what I could do to try and get the trim switch working, without creating any further damage would be greatly appreciated!

Kristin
