Hey guys I just installed wakeboard tower speakers (infinity). The install went well running the wire through the tower and all. I store the boat in the garage. My garage is not very tall requiring me to remove the tower. The speaker cable is run through the tower and then through the tower support beam and into the boat (same routing as the light on top of the tower). The only place the cable is visible is the mounting pointing for the tower and the support beam. I have searched the internet high and low for a waterproof quick disconnect that I can use for the speaker cable. I would like a 4 pin connector, but would settle for whatever I could find. I have thought about the trailer connectors, but I am not sure about how well they will stop a short if it gets wet. Any suggestions? |

What gauge is your wire? I'm finding some, but they're for small gauge wire. |

Search around at: http://www.waytekwire.com I couldn't get to the products page just now, but I have used them for personal and business wiring and connector needs. |

I'd use some radio shack stuff. Think about it.... are your connections actually submerged? They could get splashed, rained on, etc, but that's about all. Just get some connectors you like, and use some silicone just like on your spark plug boots. FYI Black holds up better outdoors. Something about the oil content in the ink and UV rays. Somebody on here went without the disconnect, and used a wire braid covering that looked sharp. |

I want to replace a couple of connections in my 348. Namely the ones for the bilge pumps. But also for the one connecting the autopilot rudder pump. The regular molex connectors just do not keep out moisture well enough for my piece of mind. Now to just find reasonable pricing for them... |

The speaker cable is 18 ga. I think I will go check out radio shack and use silicone, should work fine. I was hoping someone had done the same thing I have and had a connector they favored. Any other suggestions. |

Without looking very hard I found several w/p connectors at Mouser.com, but all the ones I saw were for 20 gauge and smaller. You might look a little harder than I had time for. But, I agree that for this application you shouldn't need a totally waterproof connector. Just one that is shrouded enough to keep large amounts of water out, and then coat the contacts with silicone grease. |

Well, you also want to consider one that is designed for repeated use. In my case I'm not looking for that; sorry for the thread hijack. |
