Has anyone up graded their horn and if so which did you choose? The horn that is on the boat in very low and is hard to hear, I want a loud horn so if I need to use it they will hear it and know to atleast look around. |

Me three. Isn't there a Coast Guard spec on how loud the horn should be? Horns are supposed to be used for signalling other boats in traffic situations. |

Oddly enough, the one problem I am having with my new boat is the horn. Somehow, it pretty much just pooped out. When I hit the button, I get a really quiet horn sound... no more car-horn loudness. I suppose we could always mount some air horns... How about this one? http://www.boatersworld.com/product/366981256.htm It's not a 150 db Stebel for a motorcycle, but it's a 105db... |

Haven't dug up the CG specs yet, but they are out there. I believe in excess of 100 db is required. Certainly the stock horn FW provides does not meet this requirement. Here's a couple horns that do meet CG specs from West Marine: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/295915?srccode=cii_9686437&cpncode=19-7254532-2 Found a mp3 for the horn sound I want, but can't attach it. ![]() Try this: http://www.geocities.com/jrobertson@ameritech.net/horn.mp3 |

The stock FW horn is not much. I would love to have tuned pipes to blast at some of the idiots on the water. |

My buddy had some train horns sitting in his garage that he had mounted on his truck for a while...if they werent so big and I could find a place to mount them than they would definately be on the boat |

You guys can look at this unit! It does not give the db levels but I had tripped across this last winter when I bought my docking lights. http://www.innovativelight.com/-sets-piezo-electronic-hidden-horn_p_1466_11570_2.cfm |
