Was your new Four Winns delivered with an Interstate battery as listed in the brochure?

The one I have was. From what I hear they give the selling dealer a certificate to purchase the batteries.

Fortunately, I know this for both my H240 and my V318.

Boats are shipped to dealers without a battery. Four Winns provides dealers with 'battery certificates'. These can be redeemed by any battery distributor that carries the brand. Most FW dealers are also Interstate battery resellers so getting the batteries are super easy.

However - I know of some boats that were targeted and provided Optima battery certificates. Kind of crazy.

So my boat should have a Interstate or Optima battery?

It will be on the invoice for the boat.

Mine says " batteries dual with switch".

Obviously the reason I ask is that mine was not delivered with Interstate batteries. It was delivered with a local brand which I actually had on my old boat and have been happy with. Four Winns makes the point that boats are delivered with Interstate batteries. Just wondering if I should make a stink with the dealer or not. Are they pocketing some extra cash? And would Four Winns want to know that a dealer is not delivering a boat as described in the brochure? Four Winns must care or the wouldn't publish it in the brochure.

The battery is on the factory-to-dealer boat invoice/build sheet. This has a listing of the boat and all of the options/equipment on the boat.

It is on that sheet.

If you do not have interstate batteries, then ask the dealer to show you the inventory and options invoice.

If you are happy with the brand you got, then it's probably fine. But if it's not what want it to be - then push the issue.

If your dealer doesn't help you - contact Four Winns customer service. They will tell you what your boat was/is supposed to come with.

Mine now has two Interstate batteries in it and IMO are the best batteries on the market other than maybe Optima. I would push the dealer to get you what the boat is supposed to come with.

The list price for the Group 27 marine XHD batteries that came with our 318 were around $110.

If you got a battery equivalent to the $60 walmart special - yes, there is probably a profit motive by the dealer to be considered.

** Note, not that there is anything wrong with the Walmart specials. I have heard great things about the value of those batteries and wouldn't hesitate to use them if I needed batteries.

There is nothing special about Interstate batteries. They are as good as any, but not on par with Optima at all. I priced batteries Friday. Almost impossible to find Group 29 batteries locally.
I may just have to downsize to Group 27's. They are between $73 and $87. The $87 is at Napa, and have a slightly better CCA and reserve cap. than the cheaper ones.

I agree, most batteries are made by one of several manufacturers and marketed and stickered differently. But this is just one of the many small annoyances by the dealer so far so anyone by them self no big deal, but all of them together adds up. It makes wonder what other little things may have been screwed up.
