My depth gauge doesnt seem to be reading the depths correct? Is there a way to reset or recaliberate it? Seems to me it showing a shallow reading.

All the time, or intermittently? It's important to keep the transducer reasonably clean. Even air bubbles or a passing leaf can throw them off.

pretty much all the time

Is it set to display fathoms by chance?

Not sure...do you know how to check it and change if it is?

Once it's deep enough, (over around 200 ft. I think), mine switches to fathoms on it's own.

The deepest point of my lake is 22ft. so its probably not on fathoms

Where exactly is the transducer? Maybe that as something on it.

I'm just guessing, but I think it would be more likely a loose wire in the dash. My transducer is a through hull on the starboard side toward the stern. Looks like a hockey puck stuck in the bottom.

Here's a link to the owner's manual in case it helps.

Not sure if it would be a loose wire because I always have a reading...Thanks for the link MIke.

Looking through the faria link one note in the manual is the Keel offset...What is that?

Post subject:  Re: Faria depth gauge

The transducer is often at a different depth than the boat's keel; the offset gives you the ability to account for that so it reads the depth from the keel and not from the transducer. In our relatively small trailer boats, this is probably only useful if we use an offset based on the depth of the bottom of the drive rather than the actual keel, and even that isn't different enough to go to the trouble IMO.

So Mike should I set the Keel offset to Zero...I am not sure what it is at now maybe thats my problem..

Unfortunately that probably isn't your problem. If you want to set it to be sure, though, I would set it to either zero, or to whatever the distance is between the transducer and the bottom of your drive (~1 foot?)
