Yup, sounds like a poor connection, most likely at the battery terminals. Take them off, clean them and then properly reconnect them. That way you know they're clean and connected securely. Better to extend the effort to be sure about them and eliminate them as a possible source of the problems. Electrical debugging is a PITA. But if you take it step-by-step and be methodical about it you'll find it.
