How do I get the chromed cover off to gain access to the bulb ? I've tried lifting it off the black base, sliding it backwards, sliding it forwards, twisting it in case it's a bayonet type fitting and it doesn't seem to want to come off. I'm loathe to start using screwdrivers etc to try to lever it off, because I'm sure to break it if I do that! I'm sure it must come out, as I'm pretty sure there's a third fixing screw underneath it. The boat is a 2004 Sundowner, I'm sure the same light was used on a lot of other models.

Anyone know how it comes off?

Graham

If it's a Perko, it's probably like mine. You have to remove the whole light first (including the base), so remove the 2 screws (1 on each side of the lens), the whole unit should just be free of the deck now. Then you'll see how to get to the bulb from the underside. You just pry the lamp holder out with a small flat blade screwdriver.

Mike,

Thanks for the advice; I removed the screws, but it didn't want to come off. Maybe there's some sealant there bonding it in place (they didn't seem to use it an anythng else!)

There was no sealant on mine, but maybe there should have been!
