Hello gang, I am as of today a boat owner (first one) and am pretty excited. I have a 2006 Four Winns Horizon 180 w/ the volvo pentax 3.0L engine in it. I am quite excited and have a question, the horn doesn't work on the boat. The gentelmen I bought it from said it just quit one day and he uses an air horn can instead. Which I would like to figure out how to fix the horn if possible. I believe it is the bow behind a vent/grille (not sure if this is correct or not) but was hoping someone here had experienced this and had some advice on what to do. I did already check the fuse and it is fine.

Thanks!

Well I went and pulled the horn out of the boat, it looks like it had some form of a white paper/vinyl cover over it, well it was half torn so I am guessng water got in there and killed it. Can I just buy a new one anywhere, or does it need to be from the dealer?

I'd start looking for the problem by checking the switch at the helm. Either short the connections behind the switch, or test with a voltmeter. Similarly, if you pull the horn you can test it with 12v DC. If it's not the switch or horn, then I'd think loose connection or grounding problem.

Turned out to be the horn assembly. After much reading I found out that FIAAM makes the horn for the four winns boats, or at least mine. I found the part # and so forth. I did check the voltage and so forth to determine it was the horn assembly. Anyways I was tinkering around Advance Auto Parts and they have the EXACT horn that my boat uses as a universal horn for cars for 19.99. I couldn't believe it. I had to re-do the waterproofing behind the oval grille, but I got it all done and working!!!
