Post subject: | Gas Gauge |
I have a 2009 F204, and the gas gauge "flickers" while driving, it does not act like old cars that sort of wander around going up and down hills, it just spikes from full to what I hope is the accurate reading. As far as I can tell, all of my electrical is working fine, and the batteries are charging. Just have a jumpy gauge needle... ![]() Anyone ever see this or have a suggestion? |

The needle on mine has done it from new but only slightly around the position it's in; it's almost like it's slightly ticking in time to a clock. It's never got any worse ( or better) and the boat is now on its 6th year. None of the other gauges in the multifunction gauge do it. I just ignore it and use the fuel display/ fuel gauge on my plotter. Graham |

Sounds like a power related issue, or a problem with the gauge sender. I'd first check the connections, make sure it has a good ground, and then try it. If you still have the problem, it may be the sender. I'd also make sure you get stable power from the alternator. The volt gauge should be stable... |

Actually mine does it too. In fact both my Four Winns have done it, and I always figured it was just from fuel slosh. Does it only happen after the boats moving, because thats when mine starts? When the boats just sitting in the slip it's steady as can be, and I hope accurate although I do plan to go the same route as Graham soon! |

It does it all the time, and the volt gauge is steady, as are the rest of the gauges, I will check the ground for the sender and other connections. That will be a good start on it. Thanks for the replies. |
