The two cockpit lights on my 2005 Sundowner have never worked since I bought it two years ago. Last week I replaced both bulbs, and the fuse - still not working. I must be missing something - anyone else have this problem and have any suggestions?

Does your switch have a light? My switch has a light that comes on when turned on. That should tell you if you have power to the switch.

There's a toggle switch on the dash that controls the lights - when I switch it on, a red light in the switch turns on, but still no cockpit lights. I just changed all the bulbs, so don't think that's the issue. Just trying to avoid a rewiring job, if there's an obvious thing I'm overlooking.

If that switch is coming on, I'd say you've either got a problem in the wiring or the switch isn't any good even though it appears to be.

Have you tried using a multi-meter to see if you have 12 volts at the light socket?

Check both sides of the switch with a multi meter, one side will be the line side (12 volt in) the other will be the load side (12 volt to lights) check to see if you have power to the line side, if you do, turn the switch on and check the load side, if it has no power the switch is no good, if there is power the problem is upstream of the switch. Make sure you put the black wire from the mulit meter on a know ground so you will show potentail then check both sides of the switch with the red wire from the multi meter.
